For the Third Sunday of Advent the pink candle is now lit on the advent wreath. The break from the color purple signifies something different. In this third week, that difference is a pause for JOY. This Sunday is also known as “Gaudete Sunday” in some traditions and literally means “to rejoice” in its Latin form. There is much to rejoice and be glad about; the time is coming near to celebrate the birth of our savior! “Dear Lord, continue to prepare our world to welcome your son Jesus with the mighty entrance he makes. Do not let our anxieties and the busy-ness of our day-to day keep us from rejoicing with you, and you from rejoicing with us. Amen.”
