For this Seventh Sunday of Easter, the reading for this week’s Gospel is taken from John 17:20-26. It is one of the few passages from the Bible where we are invited to listen to an intimate prayer taking place between Jesus and God the Father. And what do you think his fervent prayer is about? It’s nothing for himself or for his life, it’s the most unselfish prayer you could witness. When you read it, you will see just how hard Jesus is praying for us. He is praying for us to believe and he is praying for us to be one with the Lord. He prays that we may know the Holy Trinity so that we might experience the glory of its goodness. He is simply praying for us and it’s beautiful, because to him, like he says in verse 24, we are a gift to him from the Lord. In acknowledging that, let’s not take it for granted and so this week when you #livemysunday might you remember that you are a gift; one that is precious and coveted in the eyes of Jesus.
