Sunday 5/8/2022

Today’s Gospel reading for the Fourth Sunday of Easter comes from John 10:27-30 (others begin as verse 22). The Church focuses on a short, but powerful reading that gets right to the point. Sometimes long verses are not needed to understand the essence of Jesus and God our Father. Together they are one, with the Father the greatest of all. And as this particular passage falls on Mother’s Day this year it resonates with all mothers and their relationship with their children. “I know them, and they follow me.” A mother is intricately linked to her young in an unbreakable bond; she gave her children life. While children are young they will be with her and follow her wherever she goes and she in turn, gives them protection because of her undying love for them. This is like the relationship between each and every child of God and our Father. He loves us and will protect us. He knows what we need, even when we don’t agree or can’t understand why. Our parents know best and until we can stand on our own, we trust that they have our best interest at heart. We can head into the week and #livemysunday knowing there is a Father who cares so deeply for us that anything we might face is made easier because of Him.
