In this week’s Gospel reading, Mark 14:12-16, 22-26, we are reminded how the sacrament of Communion was instituted. We celebrate the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ when we partake in this sacred sacrament of the Church. Knowing that everything in the Old Testament is a foreshadow of what is to come in the New Testament, we can see the link between the manna (Exodus 16) and the blood shed from the Passover lamb (Exodus 12) and how they both saved the people of God. Now we have the new paschal lamb, Jesus, whose literal body and blood is shed on the cross to save us all. It is so beautiful how the old covenant is literally made new again. This week, think about this connection or perhaps even spend time reading the Old Testament chapters referenced above and see how those ideas and words reveal themselves in this week’s reading. How will you #livemysunday
