For this Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, also known as the Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost, Jesus is sending out his seventy-two chosen ones to spread the news! He is very explicit in his instructions. First and foremost, he wants them to go in peace and instructs them to even announce “Peace to this household” as their first salutation at every house that they should approach. He is also sure to warn them that it will be no easy task and that they will be “like lambs among wolves” as they go out on their mission. And so, we find ourselves in this very same predicament today. As a Christ follower and disciple, we must ask ourselves this question…are we confident enough in our faith that we can withstand whatever comes our way and maintain our Christ-like qualities under any condition? Can we remain steadfast and peaceful in the storms of life? This is what Jesus wants us to know so that we can be prepared to #livemysunday and do his work, joyfully and also with a peaceful heart.
