How do we handle these two different readings for the last Sunday before Lent? Some traditions are celebrating the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary time with a reading from Luke 6:39-45 and others are celebrating Transfiguration Sunday with a reading from Luke 9:28-36, 37-43a. There is a beautiful message from God our Father when we look closely at both. In the verse from Luke chapter 9 referenced above, God spoke to Peter, John, and James (and to all of us, today) that Jesus is truly His Son and to listen to him. In doing so, when we focus on the verse highlighted above in the sixth chapter of Luke, Jesus is saying that in the way we act with our heart first begins by how we conduct ourselves with the words that we come out of our mouths. If we desire to listen to Jesus, to really learn from him and make an effort to heed his words, then we can make an impact by watching what we say and the words we use. This week when you #livemysunday remember to choose carefully that the words you speak are in fact a true outward representation of the Christlike heart and mind that you desire to possess.
