In this week’s Gospel reading for the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Mark 4:35-41, we find Jesus with his disciples on a boat that is rapidly taking on water and frightening the disciples. After waking Jesus and alerting him to the situation, the disciples watch as he calms the stormy waters. His action demonstrates to them he is capable of unbelievable things. They are amazed that the wind and sea would settle at his simple command and begin to understand who they are in the midst of. Jesus is of God, for only God could do such mighty things, yet where is their faith? Jesus was sent to us to give us these examples so that we might have faith and even though he is not physically here today, we know he is among us. We feel his presence in the smile of stranger, when we take care of a loved one, or give to the needy. This week make a commitment to show others your faith when you #livemysunday and live like Christ!
