This week is the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Gospel reading comes from John 6:24-35. The conversation about who and what the bread of life is continues from last week’s reading. Jesus now very plainly explains to his crowd of followers what they are truly seeking. They think Jesus can provide them with more bread to fulfill them, but he tells them that what they truly need to live is to believe in the one God sent. The pinnacle of this passage is the revelation that God’s Son himself will provide food for eternal life. Beginning to understand they cannot help but to say, “Sir, give us this bread always.” And so today, we too, should always choose to keep these words on our lips and the thought on our hearts. Every day that we #livemysunday we should ask him for this bread, his gift of everlasting life.
