Today marks the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Gospel reading is Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23. Although the three sections of this gospel reading correspond to Jesus responding to three separate audiences (the Pharisees and scribes/the ever-present crowd/and Jesus’s disciples), the message is nearly the same. Prepare your heart for the kingdom and rid yourself of the things that do not matter. In today’s world that can be anything that might lend itself to fostering a toxic relationship with you. We cannot possibly make room for God if we are too busy paying attention to the wrong things or that which we believe deserves more attention than Him. One thing you can focus on is ensuring that you set aside time each week for proper worship. Give glory to God; give Him your thanks and give Him your needs. He is there. Listen to His word and how He is commanding you to #livemysunday each and every day!
